“The greatest competitive advantage is being with Mexico and for Mexico”: Carlos Hank González

For Carlos Hank González, chairman of the Board of Directors of Grupo Financiero Banorte, the institution’s commitment to the country’s economic development and infrastructure—partly embodied in Plan México—is its greatest competitive advantage.

The bank has adapted to compete with international giants in the local market, so it will redouble its strategy to consolidate its leadership, says Hank González in an interview with MILENIO ahead of the 89th Banking Convention.

“For us, the priority—and at the same time our greatest competitive advantage—is to stand with Mexico and for Mexico. Banorte is committed to Mexico and to Mexicans, and we see enormous growth potential at Banorte, but above all, we feel a deep sense of commitment to Mexico. Banorte is Mexico’s strongest bank, and we take great pride in being able to compete with global giants—and not just compete with them, but have the ability to beat them,” he emphasized.
And it is because of this potential that they do not seek to internationalize the institution, as their goal is “to be the bank for Mexican families.”

Carlos Hank González noted that this enthusiasm is compounded by the series of federal projects presented in recent months, which, from the banker’s perspective, will be a source of investment for the country.

They remain optimistic even about the Banorte Stadium, which will be a symbol of modernity.
