Banorte sees optimism regarding the US after the presidential election

Following the results of the US presidential election, in which Donald Trump was declared the winner, Banorte is confident that the nearshoring phenomenon will continue in Mexico.

The chairman of the Financial Group’s Board of Directors, Carlos Hank González, stressed that the most important thing for the Mexican economy is to maintain its relationship with its main trading partner.

“We are fortunate to be living in a time of significant growth and enormous, solid integration between the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The opportunity we have with nearshoring is extraordinary,” Hank said at a meeting with the media.

The banker pointed out that despite the Republican’s protectionist rhetoric, which has threatened Mexico with tariffs, the issue can be resolved through dialogue.

“I think the most important thing to highlight is that Mexico is a trading partner of the United States. We have always had a business relationship, a neighborly relationship; we are neighbors who work and collaborate together. We have done so in the past with President Trump himself, and Mexico continues to move forward,” he said.
