For Grupo Financiero Banorte, the Mexican economy’s current position on the international stage is very positive.
According to Carlos Hank González, Chairman of the Board of Directors of this institution, “Mexico has an exciting future.”
During the 79th Banking Convention, the Mexican businessman mentioned that our country enjoys macroeconomic stability, which gives it great strength, with reforms that provide greater competitiveness, and a predominantly young population that represents a powerful workforce for the next 10 years.
“Other countries do not have this productive force. It is an enviable asset that Mexico can take advantage of because these are not only talented and driven young people, but they are also developing knowledge and skills that can boost our country’s growth,” he added.
Regarding the depreciation of our currency, slower growth in the world’s economies, and the reduction in oil prices, Carlos Hank González said that these are elements of a period of volatility that our economy and our banking system are prepared to face.
He mentioned that, while continuing to pay attention to the development of the global economy, there is currently no cause for alarm in Mexico, as growth of 2.3 percent is expected for 2016, while other emerging economies such as Brazil are expected to see a decline of 3.7 percent in the same year.
“We must look to the medium term with realistic optimism,” said Hank González.
