As the only Mexican bank, Banorte, represented by its president Carlos Hank, signed the United Nations Principles for Responsible Banking, which has as its main commitment to align business strategies with the goal of sustainable development and the Paris Agreement against climate change, after hundreds of thousands of young people marched in different parts of the world last Friday, September 20, led by 16-year-old Swedish activist Greta Thunberg.
Carlos Hank, together with Marcos Ramírez Miguel, CEO of Banorte, attended the UN headquarters in New York, where 130 banks from around the world with a value of $47 trillion gathered to become founding signatories of the principles. “Banks must assume greater social and environmental commitment. At Banorte, we are very proud to be the only Mexican bank that participated in the creation of the Principles for Responsible Banking, which are the foundation of a new banking system: one that is closer to the needs of customers, employees, and the communities we work with,” said Hank González.
